Two dates to remember. Two dates to write down.
August 9th will see the release of Brother Reades’ Record Collection debut ep , ‘The Illustrated Guide To 9-5’. Its limited and to quote Jay Diola , “ITS CRUSHING”. Brother Reade and Supreeme continue paying an entire life of dues on the Warped Tour , hanging out with Jay-Z and doing keg stands with Atreyu..and push ups. lots of push ups.
October 11th. Oh jesus. The Mean Reds debut full length ‘Together At Last and We’re Getting Married’ hits stores. Yes , they pulled it off. Yes , its great. Yes , they will be on tour for the rest of their lives.
Dutch Dub will be on a west coast tour in early September.
LA shows will be with Brother Reade.
The fearless Bookwormz have purchased the Constance Garnett translation of ‘War and Peace’. Dont fuck with the Bookwormz.
The Summary group show downtown on Saturday night was awesome. Thanks to all involved for including me. I am not worthy.

Kids Who Mosh Like Assholes Must Make For Selfish Lovers.
07.07.05 The stress level was high in my heart this week. Due to circumstances beyond my control it was starting to look like I was going to have to put my money where my mouth is and tour manage Brother Reade and Supreeme on the Warped tour..The Warped tour is right next to hot knitting needles in the ear for me in activity choices , and at the last minute the one and only Todd ‘Folk Hogan’ W. stepped up to handle the driving and to let me off the hook. Todd , I owe you a yoga class.
I had to ask Matzah to pull over and let me drive this morning. The kid was drnking iced non fat vanilla lattes with six splendas AND chewing on Vivarin AND changing the song on the ipod every 30 -40 seconds AND swerving erratically. Matzah my boy , breathe deep and practice sitting still. It takes years to learn how to do this properly.

07.07.05 The stress level was high in my heart this week. 07.05.05 More and more I dislike holidays , and holiday weekends.
They seem to be an excuse for John Q. Public to act even more like an ape. Halloween’s the worst , but July 4th has to come in second place. Last night in Echo Park was incredible though. Its an open air explosive market once the sun goes down and , as I had hoped there were palm trees set alight and fire engines dispatched. Its like walking through some kind of cholo beirut and everytime one of those little buggers set off a homemade bomb I quickly ran my hands around Betsys’ head to make sure it was all attatched and free of schrapnel. There were babies EVERYWHERE and my hand has a sweet burn from a misjudged firecracker toss..Intense and lawless. The only way to celebrate American Independance , with the Hispanic community blowing up the neighborhood.
Fuck Yeah Fest 2 was wildly successful. Like 3000 drunken summer fools stuffing three venues to capacity all night long successful! Nate Harrington is still a virgin! The Mean Reds were SOAKED in the saliva of others! I felt even older than usual! Hats off to Sean Blacklist for putting it together. I never thought the day would come when I’d see the Echo Park streets full of hammered punks burning American flags..And the Rampart Division was kind enough to wait until 2am to start threatening violence! Thanks cops!

06.29.05 This morning when our intern ‘The Chocolate Matzah’ called and woke me up at 7:45 am I cursed the day he was born. An hour later when he called to tell me he was outside [Matzah was picking me up to drive me to work. He is 18 and I am 32 and I have no car .pfffft.] I begrudgingly left the safety of my bed [so long Adams] and dragged my self out to the sidewalk where our boy was PARKED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET , ASLEEP , AND BLASTING BEAT HAPPENING! It was at a mind numbing volume and for a brief moment I was platonically in love with him. Matzah , hats off to you , and thanks for the ride.
I’ve already mentioned Miranda July and her wonderful movie, Me and You and Everyone We Know. I have been thinking about it for days now and am certain that its one of the best I’ve ever seen. Looking around on Hoppers’ Tiny Pony today I found a link to Ms Julys’ Blog. I read the whole enchilada and Its such an inspiration to see someone from the same figurative side of the tracks make something so complete AND get the attention something so wonderful deserves..I read it in order and when she wins at the Cannes film festival and looks at her TROPHY my eyes welled up in an ‘underdog is winning,come on Rocky go for the knockout’ kind of way. I was shocked at the effect. I mean , I dont even cry at funerals. Only weddings and boxing movies. I recommend , seriously , see the movie. Inspiration is my favorite.
